Alex MalevBar Ilan University
Track 2: Seminar Leader Allan Arkush Alex Malev (Bar Ilan University) is a second year psychology and Jewish philosophy student in the "Nivharim" honors program at Bar Ilan university. Alex was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and made Aliyah with his family at the age of six. He grew up in Jerusalem, and after graduating from high school, studied in the "Shiluv" program at Kibutz Hadati yeshiva, which combines Jewish Studies with full army service. As a NCO in the Education corps, he worked with troubled youth and new immigrant soldiers towards their better absorption in the army and in Israeli society. After his army service, Alex worked in a Pre-Army Preparatory Program for New Immigrants in northern Galilee, and served as a Jewish Agency Shaliach in various Jewish communities in Canada, Australia and the Former Soviet Union. Currently, alongside his studies, Alex volunteers at the crisis stabilization unit for teens at Geha Mental Health Center, and works as a math teacher. Alex enjoys traveling, reading, music and films.
