Track 3: Seminar Leader Alan Mittleman

Alon Shalev is completing his B.Ed. at Herzog College, Israel, specializing in Jewish Philosophy and Talmudic studies, and will be starting his M.A .in Jewish Philosophy at Ben Gurion University next year. He is also currently studying in Yeshivat Siach Yitzchak parallel to his studies at Herzog College. After graduating from Kibbutz Yavne high school Alon studied at Yeshivat Ma'ale Gilboa, which he combined with a 3 year military service as a combat soldier and a non commissioned officer (staff sergeant) in one of the IDF's special ground forces units. In August 2007 he took a break from his studies to go on a year of "Shlichut" on behalf of the Jewish Agency (voluntary service for Jewish communities in the Diaspora) to the city of Perth, Australia, where he met his wife. Alon recently won a prize for excellence in the field of Jewish Education from the "Rabbi David and Greda Ochs Fund" for his academic achievements.
