David ShyovitzUniversity of Pennsylvania Summer 2009 - Track 3 (Advanced) David Shyovitz is a doctoral candidate in the History Department at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also received his BA and MA. He has also studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shvut, Israel. David's research focuses on the intellectual and cultural history of the Jews of medieval Ashkenaz, and his dissertation deals with medieval Ashkenazic attitudes toward science and the natural world. David is a faculty member at the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education, is a Fellow at the Center for Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization at the Cardozo Scool of Law, and is a former Wexner Foundation Graduate Fellow. A native of Silver Spring, MD, David currently lives in Riverdale, NY with his wife and daughter. |
