Track 1: Seminar Leader Leora Batnitzky Ilana Gadish (Yeshiva University), 20, hails from Miami, Florida. She is a rising senior at Stern College for Women, Yeshiva University, in Manhattan, NY, majoring in Jewish Studies and Biology. Ilana attended the Samuel Scheck Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach for twelve years, and studied at Midreshet Lindenbaum from 2007-2008. She is founder of the Zmanim Committee at Stern College, a committee that is devoted to creating dynamic and inspiring programming throughout the school year, specifically focused around the Jewish holidays. Last year Ilana was co-president of TEIQU, a student-run organization that hosts events on campus to increase intellectual discourse and dialogue in the realm of Jewish academics, faith and community at Yeshiva University. When she is back in Miami, Ilana often gives shiurim on various topics in Tanakh and Jewish thought at the Beit David Highland Lakes Shul in Aventura, FL. This Fall, she will be a Resident Advisor for the second year in a row, and was recently chosen to co- chair the Student Life Committee at Stern College for Women for the academic year of 2010-2011. Ilana is currently Associate Editor of Kol Hamevaser, Yeshiva University’s undergraduate journal of Jewish thought, and has been a staff-writer since Spring 2009. |
