Summer 2009 - Track 1 (Novak) A native of Mesquite, Texas, Kendell Pinkney is a senior at Oberlin College where he studies, religion, Jewish Studies, and music. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, Kendell has done extensive research in the area of Second Temple Exegesis. In this past year, his studies led him to Israel, where he took various courses in Jewish Studies and Hebrew at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and volunteered with the Ethiopian National Project (a non-profit organization that seeks to provide Ethiopian Jewish Youths with opportunities for advancement within Israeli society). Beyond academics, Kendell is also a classically trained vocalist who has performed professionally both as a soloist and with various musical ensembles across America, Europe and Israel. His most recent credits include being a featured soloist with the Jerusalem A-capella: In de Spirit - A Concert of Bach and Negro Spirituals, and the role of Curly in the classic Broadway musical, Oklahoma!
