Simcha GrossYeshiva University Summer 2009 - Track 2 (Stone) Simcha Gross is a senior at Yeshiva University majoring in Jewish studies. Following high school, Simcha studied for two years at Yeshivat Har Etzion. At YU, Simcha co- founded the bi-annual Tanakh Yom Iyun, which regularly attracts hundreds of attendees, as well as TEIQU, a student organization that promotes intellectual discourse and dialogue on Jewish academics, faith and community. TEIQU has, among other things, hosted a panel on Ethics and Kashrut that was prominently featured in the New York Times, and scholarly lectures by known academic personalities, such as Professor James Kugel of Harvard. Simcha was recently named one of the Jewish Week's "36 under 36,” which spotlights up-and-coming leaders in the greater American Jewish community. Simcha has also served as a research assistant to both Professor Moshe Bernstein and Professor Suzanne Stone, has contributed articles on Bible and Jewish thought to a number of publications, and was one of this year’s Junior Fellows at the Yeshiva University Center for Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization at Carzodo Law School, sponsored by the Tikvah Fund. |
