Zachary BennettDavidson College
Track 1: Seminar Leader Leora Batnitzky Zachary R. Bennett (Davidson College) is a rising senior political science major at Davidson College. His course of study has focused on political philosophy. Currently at work on an honors thesis on Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America, Bennett will spend the first ten weeks of the summer at Davidson researching Tocqueville’s thought as a critique of John Locke’s Enlightenment liberalism. Of particular interest to Bennett are the roles of reason and religion in political life. After finishing his undergraduate education, he hopes to earn a Ph.D. in political science and go on to teach political philosophy. Bennett is the editor of Davidson’s conservative student magazine The Davidson Reader. Last summer, he interned at The Weekly Standard in Washington, D.C. He spent the fall semester studying abroad in France. Bennett is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. |
