Zachary NovetskyNew York University
Track 3: Seminar Leader Alan Mittleman Zachary Novetsky (New York University) graduated in 2010 with a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy from New York University and was named one of NYU’s 15 Most Influential Students by the student run newspaper. For his undergraduate honors thesis, Zach argued that non-state actors should have the right to wage war within the framework of Just War Theory. While at college, he cofounded the SHARP Lecture Series, a group which brings to campus a variety of speakers to discuss a plethora of topics, which was awarded the NYU President’s Service Award two years in a row. On campus, he was actively involved in Muslim-Jewish interfaith programming and cofounded the BRIDGES Dialogue Group, which brings together and engages Muslim and Jewish students from various New York colleges. For these efforts, Zach was awarded the 2009 PANIM: Aaron Goldman Young Jewish Activist Award. In 2009, Zach served as a contributing blogger for the Jerusalem Post, writing on his experiences as one of three American student participants in the 2009 United Conference Against Racism (Durban II). That Summer (2009), he attended the first-ever Catholic Jewish Emerging Leadership Conference that took place at the Vatican and was organized by the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations. Next year, he will be attending Fordham Law School.
